If you are a newly arrived refugee wanting to learn about the settlement sector in Calgary and how to find programs and services that meet your needs, this workshop is for you!

In this 2 hours online workshop, participants will learn how to find and access the right resources they need to succeed.

Topics include:

• Self Awareness

• Taking inventory of skills and resources

• Finding the right supports

• Self-Agency and Self-Advocacy

• Next Steps

The Refugee Empowerment Program (REP) is a 6-week program where Refugees will learn practical skills for long-term success in Canada.

You will also gain access to resources and tools to not only better your settlement journey, but also learn how to become a peer mentor for your community.

To qualify for this program, you need to be:

• a person with lived Experience of settlement in Calgary;

• fluent in English (written and verbal);

• able to read and write in both your mother tongue and English;

• able to use basic computer programs and software (email, zoom, google search);

• transitioning out of (or about to be transitioned out of) settlement programs;

• self-motivated and committed to the program;

• willing to share your experience with others;

• committed to better yourself and helping others do the same

• able to navigate public transit system and get to different places in the city independently
